Reflections from the Spiritual Committee

Let us live in the current season, preparing and honoring our Lord and living our faith daily.  Let us live “in the world, but not of the world” -John 17:6–16.
Thanksgiving and the season of Advent are fast approaching.  In our everyday lives, society would have us skip straight through Thanksgiving and prepare for Christmas.  We are bombarded with “Seasons Greetings” right after the Halloween, All Saints and All Souls Days.  Stores and companies want us to have this on our minds and share our pocket books for all manner of things.  Let us reflect on this and ask ourselves as mothers and sisters in Christ…what is my role in proclaiming the gospel this day? How should I respond in this moment? How am I to live and proclaim Christ’s love in this season?

Our children are watching and learn very quickly by our behaviors.   As I buy and make ready my home for this festive season I ask myself for what purpose? Am I modeling Christ in this behavior?   Will I be able to give of my treasurers freely to help our needy brethren or will I adorn my life greater only giving from my surplus?  These are hard questions.   Many of which I fail to respond to.  As I urge myself may I also urge you.  Let us live in the current season, preparing and honoring our Lord and living our faith daily.  Living “in the world, but not of the world” John 17:6–16.
